Dominion of the Heart

This powerful message takes us back to the very beginning—Genesis 1:26—where God creates humanity in His image and grants us dominion. But what does dominion really mean for our daily lives? The central revelation here is profound: dominion doesn't start with what we do, but with who we are. Before God ever told Adam and Eve to rule over creation, He first established their identity as image-bearers. This is the key we often miss—we chase outcomes and try to modify our behavior, but true dominion flows from understanding our identity in Christ. The sermon walks us through how dominion was lost in the Garden when the enemy convinced humanity they could find identity apart from God. That same lie still operates today, keeping us from walking in the authority we were created to possess. The woman caught in adultery becomes a beautiful picture of restoration: Jesus didn't say 'stop sinning and then I won't condemn you'—He said 'I don't condemn you, now go and sin no more.' Identity precedes action. When we embrace who we are as redeemed children of the King, when we allow the Spirit to fill us and renew our hearts, we can finally step into the dominion God intended from the beginning. Every day is a gift, recorded in God's book before we ever lived it, and we have the authority to declare: 'This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.' The question isn't whether we're capable—it's whether we'll embrace our true identity.
