The King Is Here

Dec 7, 2025    Pastor Kevin Allen

This message confronts us with a stunning reality that we often overlook in the busyness of our lives: the King of Kings stands at the door of our hearts and knocks, waiting for us to simply listen and invite Him in. Drawing from Revelation 3:20 and the Christmas narrative, we're reminded that God's entire redemptive story is about closing the distance between Himself and humanity—from walking with Adam and Eve in the garden, to dwelling in the tabernacle and temple, to the ultimate act of taking on flesh and dwelling among us. The sermon challenges us to examine four major barriers that keep us from abiding in His presence: distraction, problems, misplaced productivity, and shame from our failures. We live in a culture drowning in noise, where silence feels unnatural and uncomfortable, yet it's precisely in the stillness that God speaks. The message powerfully reframes our understanding of spiritual life—it's not about doing more for God, but about dwelling with Him. Like Mary who chose the 'one thing' over Martha's many distractions, and like David who desired only to dwell in God's house, we're called to prioritize presence over productivity. Perhaps most beautifully, we're reminded that Christmas crushes the lie that our failures disqualify us from God's presence—He came precisely because of our failures, not in spite of them. The question left ringing in our hearts is this: if the King is here, are we even aware? Are we making space for Him, or are we too busy, too distracted, too consumed with problems to open the door?
