Peace

This powerful message centers on a profound truth we often overlook: peace isn't found in the absence of problems, but in the abiding presence of Christ. Drawing from the beautiful priestly blessing in Numbers 6 and the dramatic account of Jesus calming the storm in Mark 4, we're challenged to reconsider what we're really asking for when we cry out to God in our chaos. The disciples' question wasn't actually about the storm at all—it was about whether Jesus cared. And His response wasn't primarily to fix their circumstances, but to address their lack of faith. This reveals something transformative: our issue is never really the storm itself, but our failure to recognize that having Christ in our boat changes everything. When the angels declared 'peace on earth' at Christ's birth, nothing in the external world had changed—Rome was still corrupt, society was still broken—yet peace had come to earth because the Prince of Peace had arrived. This reminds us that we spend too much energy demanding God fix what's outside when He's trying to settle what's inside. The world promises peace through better circumstances, but Christ offers something radically different: His peace, which transcends understanding and remains constant regardless of the waves crashing around us.
