Have the Audacity to Be the Church

Jan 4, 2026    Pastor Kevin Allen

In a world filled with constant noise and distraction, we're challenged to examine whether we've become too comfortable in our spiritual lives. This powerful message centers on the concept of biblical audacity—not arrogance or self-promotion, but the courage to obey God when silence feels safer and inaction seems easier. Through the story of Deborah in Judges 4, we discover that she didn't campaign for leadership or seize authority; she simply listened to God when nobody else was listening. Her audacity wasn't loudness—it was obedience in a moment when her nation desperately needed direction. The challenge before us is profound: Are we truly being the church, or have we allowed ourselves to grow cold, satisfied with merely feeling God's presence without being tuned into His voice? This isn't about attending services or participating in programs—it's about carrying the life-changing message of Jesus Christ beyond these walls into our workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. We possess resurrection power, yet too often we consume it for ourselves rather than sharing it with a broken world. The harvest is plentiful, but are we good stewards of what God has already given us? Every day presents opportunities to reach someone who desperately needs hope, and 2026 calls us to live audaciously—not occasionally or selectively, but consistently as the living, breathing church God designed us to be.
