What does it look like to build a life that can withstand the storms? In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus draws a sharp and unforgettable contrast between two builders and two foundations. The wise man hears the words of God and puts them into practice, and when the rains come down, the streams rise, and the winds beat against his house, it stands firm. The foolish man hears the same words but does nothing with them, and when the same storms arrive, his house collapses completely. The lesson is not just about what we know but about what we do with what we know. We can sit in services, absorb teaching, and nod along with scripture, but if we never put it into practice, we are building on sand. This message challenges us to close the gap between hearing and doing, between belief and action. Faith that is not lived out is not a foundation at all. As we face uncertainty in our families, our health, and our world, the question this passage puts before us is a deeply personal one: What are we actually building on? And are we willing to do the hard work of laying our lives on the rock of God's word, not just when it is convenient, but every single day?
